We are happy to announce that we plan to switch to a new schedule starting January 20th.
  1. - The new start time will be 7:55am daily.
  2. - Online classes will happen each day from 7:55-12:10 (just like now but
  3. starting/ending earlier)
  4. - Monday afternoons will be reserved for teacher planning and student
  5. homework.  - We will begin providing In-Person Learning Opportunities each
  6. Tuesday through Friday from 1:00-2:40 at the Edison and Columbia
  7. Campus.
  8. - We will continue to provide Teacher Office Hours Tuesday through
  9. Friday afternoons.

The In-Person Learning Opportunity is optional, not a requirement.  Students will be assigned to a single classroom with no more than 12 students.  While no new instruction will be happening, 2-3 teachers may rotate to provide content-area support, homework help, structured work time, organization/social-emotional learning support, and/or enrichment/extension opportunities. Students must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth and maintain a 6ft. distance from others at all times.  All safety and operational protocols will be followed.   To enroll, families need to complete the Comet Corner Sign-Up This form will be sent weekly via Schoolmessenger, Google Classroom and in our weekly email. You will have from Wednesday until Sunday at midnight to complete the form at which time the form will close.By completing the form, you are signing up for in-person learning a week in advance, not for that week.

In-Person Learning Opportunities will only happen Tuesday-Friday afternoons from 1:00-2:40. Teachers will use the data you provide in the survey to support students’ in-person learning goals. Teachers will work on a rotation to provide in-person opportunities. Students in attendance may be working with a teacher who is not necessarily on their morning schedule.

 Transportation

Students must have arranged transportation home at dismissal (2:40). Car Pickup, Walking, MTD routes are available. MTD will start school bus routes on Wednesday, January 20, and will be free. No student IDs will be required.  Students simply need to state they are going to school. The MTD Route Planner is a great resource to help your student get set up with a route.

 Morning Support Center (Optional)

Starting January 20th, the Support Center will be open to a limited number of students from 7:45 AM-1:00 PM Monday-Friday. Students will be in a large space (with up to fifty people) where they will be provided with: -stable internet connectivity  -an adult to supervise

Students will need to bring their own Chromebook, water bottle, and mask. Students will not be allowed to remain in the Support Center if they refuse to follow safety and mask-wearing protocols.

Transportation will not be provided, but students can choose to stay for the optional afternoon In-Person Support Session from 1- 2:40 PM after which all students will be able to access district MTD bus routes.

***Due to limited space, students will be selected based upon need, and we may not have room for all interested students.

As the impact of the pandemic is monitored locally, If numbers increase and the decision is made to stay with our current schedule, we will let you know immediately.

We realize that this is yet another change in this unusual and difficult time.  Please know we are striving to best support our students, yet keep the safety and health of everyone in the forefront of our decisions.
